pretty purple strewn
amongst fresh green grasses
just starting to grow
soft carpets alive
singing with growth, rebirth and
promises of Spring
I run across the
lawn breathing sunshine dreams
into tomorrow
violet slumbers
refresh frozen hope and pray
thunders pass over
May rains replenish
and forgive sunshine stolen
by daffodil vase
Aye, tomorrow will soak
the last of April's promises
for May's bounty

You capture many aspects of my favorite season through a string of some cool haiku. Wonderful overall composite with the images too!
ReplyDelete@dustus: Thank you Adam. I would have liked to play with the pics a bit more, but I had to take what I had on hand. Since it seems to finally have arrived, I am trying to soak it up.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the Poet Laureate nod too!
Fantastic! Love the way you have interspersed beautiful pictures between your poetry and the change of the months. Refreshing and lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt's so great! I love this supple imagery of spring! Your haikus filled me with life again. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeletebreathing sunshine dreams into tomorrow...nice...
ReplyDeleteLOVED this haiku, Katherine!
ReplyDeleteEspecially this....
"soft carpets alive
singing with growth, rebirth and
promises of Spring"
You have a such a magical way with words!
Lovely shot of the daffodil's!
Happy Wednesday, my friend!
Lovely shots of nature, in photo and word
ReplyDelete@Elizabeth Young: "Fantastic! Love the way you have interspersed beautiful pictures between your poetry"
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth. I like to add pictures to enhance the words. I have to admit that I got some inspiration from a comment I was leaving elsewhere, and ran with it (via my own pics).
@Mariya Koleva: "Your haikus filled me with life again."
ReplyDeleteYou are sweet Mariya. I am glad you found some inspiration here.
@Brian: I have rain today (as expected), but I am trying to hold tight to those precious rays of sunshine.
ReplyDelete@Ron: The girls decided that we needed to have a centerpiece for dinner last night. How can I refuse? The daffodils are sunshine, when the skies remain leaden outside.
@Kim Nelson: Thank you Kim. Spring has been late in coming in my part of the world, but its rebirth fills me with smiles again.
ReplyDeletei love spring thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteLovely, Katherine! It's so uplifting to see signs of Spring and renewal around...it's seemed a long time coming this year.
ReplyDeleteLovely, especially this: May rains replenish/and forgive sunshine stolen/by daffodil vase
ReplyDelete@kez: After a long winter, I am ecstatic to see the glimmers of sunshine and feel the warmth on my skin again. Yeah Spring!
ReplyDelete@Talon: Wasn't it just forever for Spring to arrive? The leaves on our lilac are finally beginning to unfurl, but they are the only leaves out just yet. Come on Spring! Hopefully we won't jump straight to Excruciating HOT in a heartbeat.
@Cathy: Thank you Cathy. I like when people can find specific things that they like about a poem. Thanks for stopping in.
I saw the tiny purple buds myself recently and too found myself wishing to "run across the lawn breathing sunshine dreams into tomorrow." you painted a lovely and enticing picture of spring.
ReplyDelete@rmpWritings: I even picked a few to toss into the salad tonight. Delicious in so many ways!
ReplyDeleteHaikus, spring and pictures - nice approach
ReplyDelete@John (@bookdreamer): Thank you John
ReplyDeleteBeautiful haikus for springtime pictures, Katherine. Kind of makes all the slogging through slush and snow worth it, doesn't it?
ReplyDelete@PattiKen: It certainly makes me appreciate spring that much more Patti. Thank you for stopping by.
