@Brian: While I am tired and heading to bed now, this thought actually sprung from my writing class tonight. We wrote a stream of consciousness piece that was quite draining. The beginning of the stream was "The last time I saw..." Brain ran down a sad path, that had tears flowing by the end of our 10 minutes.
@Me: Hugs to you Corrie. Only you can forgive yourself. She forgave you long ago. Punishing yourself doesn't bring her back. Better to take that guilt in a more productive direction. Ever thought about talking about drinking and driving or bullying in a school setting? Even sharing this story in a local paper or magazine would get the message out. But beating yourself up over it forever, doesn't change the fact that she is gone.
Take care, my friend.

I often cry when I'm writing. Like tonight.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, by the way. While some of me would agree, a large part of me carries that guilt and always and forever will...

ReplyDeleteHugs to you. I hope your tears were cathartic.
Now that is a great day of writing. When you walk to bed exhausted and sweaty you know you did work.
ReplyDeleteYes!
ReplyDelete@V. Furnas: You are right you know. It does take a lot of effort to sit down and right your heart. Your comment has given me pause and smile. Thanks!
ReplyDelete@Mama Zen: Hey Mama. As writers, those moments can be sweet. That is when the best of writing emerges.
You're doing just fine Katherine
