Perhaps it is the wine that tickles me,
but I envisage thee
and my heart swells.
My lips quiver with delight.
Ah, the words; what a plight!
The smile is all I can provide.
The sun leaves my view,
although it has barely touched you,
and I am a day closer to love.
A hug from your name,
No other is the same.
I ache with anticipation.
I must fill my glass
to make the night pass
and make my dreams a reality.

Here is a taste
of juvenile love's poetry;
A verse written
while I wandered Europe's backpacking trails
and my heart dreamed
of a lover missed
back home in Canada
ah...i can feel the pining...smiles.
ReplyDelete'Twas romantic fancy that filled my young heart, as my eyes feasted on Europe's finest histories.
ReplyDeleteAh young love, how sweet it is!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm such a hopeful romantic, so while reading this poem...I found myself smiling and giddy.
ReplyDelete"The sun leaves my view,
although it has barely touched you,
and I am a day closer to love."
Love that!
I don't know whether you celebrate it, but I want to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving Day tomorrow!
And thank you for sharing yourself on this blog. It's been a pleasure getting to know you, Katherine!

ReplyDeleteHi Pete. In a small way yes, but for the gifts that have been offered & the lessons learned, I think I belong right where I am.
ReplyDeleteOh Claudia, you have me stumped. I was pretty good about sharing my words with him, as he was a great fan & appreciator, but I believe he was without a mailing address at the time. For the life of me, I cannot remember though. hmmm

ReplyDeleteWell whenever words gets formed in love through heart, its not juvenile but matured ... I enjoyed this one..
Your words ...
'The sun leaves my view,
although it has barely touched you,
and I am a day closer to love.'
were so beautiful and intense..
I liked this one.. probably.. and only if you don't mind... the only juvenile thing that I did think it was are your two words in the verse from your heart were 'Envisage Thee'...
thanks for sharing...

You are kind Shashi. Thank you and I do not mind your comments at all. Part of the beauty of this venue is that we do open ourselves up to review. You offer constructive criticism and I welcome that as much as praise. It helps to make us all better writers to see our words through another's eyes.
ReplyDeleteromantic, sweet.
ReplyDeleteWith me also a lover of the outdoors, your poem jarred memories of my own backpacking trips and feeling so far away from a loved one. Thanks for sharing.
