The snow melts
and waters flow.
A muddy sight
for cheery soul
Spring is near
and birds now sing
Life reawakes
rebirth begins
Clad in squishy boots
and wet snowpants
my girls point out
a line of ants
We follow close
And then we see
That all those ants
Have entered the home of ME!

Well G-Man, while I am thrilled that Winter seems to be retreating under Spring's imminent onslaught, I am not impressed that it has brought those little creatures to life. At least in my house. Yuck. Hate ants in the house. Better than in your pants though, I guess.
Happy Spring folks.
ANTS!! ACK! Believe it or not, Equal or Spenda make great environmentally safe ant killer. Look it up. They were originally manufactured as a pesticide then marketed as artificial sweetener. Makes ya think, don't it.
ReplyDeleteyikes! time to break out the ant traps...we get them every year...happy spring has found you!
ReplyDeleteCorn Meal...
ReplyDeleteThey eat their fill to the brim, then they can't digest the stuff...BOOM!!!
Loved your 55 Katherine.
It DID make me antsy for Spring!
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
@Monkey Man: Really! Ohhh, intersting. Good to know. I guess that's why I don't like the stuff. Gross!
ReplyDelete@Brian: Me too, but I could do without the ants
@G-Man: Ah, another home remedy! Cool, yet gross. At least I have corn meal, so perhaps I will give that one a whirl.
Oh, and "It DID make me antsy for Spring!"
har de har, har ;)
Hard to keep spring in your heart and out of your home!
ReplyDelete@avoidtheclap: I guess I just have to rejoice in the sunshine along with my fellow living creatures. I just might have to try the recipes that were suggested above though. :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes. I've been ready for the ants' disappearance. We use talcum powder to make them go away.
ReplyDeleteI'm not very fond of any bug in the house. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the earth is squishy for you again -- yay!
Spring, Spring Spring!!
xoxo
"We follow close
ReplyDeleteAnd then we see
That all those ants
Have entered the home of ME!"
HAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHA! OMG, Katherine...that CRACKED ME UP!!!!!
You are soooooooooo clever, dear lady!!!!
Brilliant poem!!!!
When I lived in Florida, the ant situation there was horrendous. And because it's hot and humid most of the year, we had them constantly.
Happy Friday, my friend!
X
@Belinda: Talcum powder; now I have remedy #3 to try. I should post stuff like this more often for other's helping hints. Thank you!
ReplyDelete@Jannie: Oh Jannie! It is glorious to see the snow banks literally shrinking by feet by the day. I still have a few snow piles in the yard, but the yard isn't its usual pond state. Small mercies. The best part is that overnight a bunch of Spring plants have decided that it is time to emerge! I have seen tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and crocuses beginning to push through the dirt. The world will be awash in colour soon!
@Ron: Oh Ron, clever or not, I HATE ants in the house. Every Spring they come out in droves. Yesterday I saw 2 and today I have seen probably 30 or more. AAAAaaahhhhhh! Gross. A sign of Spring I do not like. It would gross me out to have them all the time. I mean there is a whole big wide open world for them to explore! Go discover it!!! Leave my counters alone!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteblah...
Nooooooooooooooo... no ants...PLEEEEZZE!!!
ReplyDeleteI was all singing and cheery when I saw Spring.. but then those ant s had to walk in!! Arrgghh!!!
Seriously..what is it that they don't find outside for which they would wanna invade homes!?!??!
@Kavita: I know! I don't get it! And for however many I squash (or instruct the kids to), there are 5 times as many still out there. Ugh.
ReplyDeletehow true, spring brings in fresh air and lovely scents,
ReplyDeleteyet ants / allergy may be a problem for some residents...
Bless you.
@Jingle: Yes, I am not thrilled with the ants Jingle. I am giving the cornstarch a go though, so perhaps will be able to just have the fresh air to bring me up soon.
