Slippery out There

I slid down the driveway
trying to scrape off the van
I slid up the path
Attempting to take the kids to school
I slid around the corner
trying to limp the van home
Then gave up
   And drove to the shop

Ice or no ice
It is time to get the brakes done $$

Miserly me is squeaking in 55 slim words for G-Man today. Won't be able to afford any more once I get the repair bill this aft!

  1. I would have liked a little more snow here in VA & I need my brakes done - I love this 55!

  3. @Austin: I also needed something done about a muffler getting progressively louder. I offered my first-born, but the boys at the shop took pity on me. Or maybe I am just bringing property levels down in the neighbouhood, so they cut me a deal.

  4. @Ron: I figured that it was high-time I just broke down and got them fixed before I slid into the neighbour's house. You have an excellent weekend yourself Ron!

  5. Slip-sliding away, I was singing part of that song earlier in my car. No ice here, tho. :)

Please come to Austin! My hubby will give you a deep brake discount. :) (Yes, he has a car shop.) Hell, come here and we'll do your car for FREE.

Please come to Austin, anyway. I can't wait to meet you!

    xoxo

  6. Like Jannie, I immediately thought of that song - lol!

This is not the time of year for dicey brakes - glad they're getting fixed!

  7. Ice AND bad breaks? Terrifying. Yeah, get them fixed.

  8. My sweet ladies! They are now DONE! yippee! Visa thanks me for my business, so blah, blah, blah

@Jannie: I would have loved to come to Texas for the brake job, but I suspect I would have ended up in the Gulf of Mexico sliding right by you. A tour through your palace on the hill would be sweet though ;P Do I smell a road trip? hmmmm...

    @Talon: Slip sliding away... Woah!!
Yes, the shop up the street is pretty good to me. They are pretty personable and I have dealt with them for long enough that I don't think they are going to screw me around. They even gave me a coupon for a small rebate, so I have pizza money later. woohoo! :)

@Alice: This morning the world was one slick ice sheet AA! I almost slid into the street as I was trying to step into the van! Frig! Enough said, it was straight to the shop & now my van doesn't sound like it is on driving down the road; muffler and brakes DONE!

  12. @G-Man: Our auto-host has spoken. Tis done G.

@Brian: Not as bad as I thought it would be. And now the kids might be able to hear the radio too.

@hpicasso: I hear tell rain is in the forecast, but I don't think we have seen the end of winter yet. I hope not to slide through any more of winter's trip hazards though. Peace to you too. Have a good weekend.

  15. @Jingle: Indeed! happy Friday to you too.

@Mama Zen: Thankfully I didn't crack up on the icy roads this AM. We had a super quick flash ice shower that froze everything, but my pocket book.

  16. @Monkey Man: Thanks MM. I have to admit, I am liking the lack of muffler roar and do feel better about the fact that I should be able to stop on a dime now. Although they didn't feel too bad before, but brakes are handy to have.

@Lime: don't get me wrong. I still had brakes, but it had been noted that they were due for replacement. But road trips are always a little safer with a vehicle in tip-top shape. Have a good weekend.

  17. Here's me being all sweet and praying that you (and the car) are okay...
And then, here's me being all mean, and going HAHAHAHHAHA

With all that sliding, I simply couldn't keep my giggles to myself!!

    So well written, Katherine!!
    It's a good thing your Visa allowed you these 55 words...else G-Man would've sued them!! ;-)

    Drive safe, girl.. :)

  18. @Kavita: Yeah, I think I struck a nerve with the dear G with my 55 this week! A rainy weekend will keep us inside playing though, so regardless of brakes or no, we won't be slipping and sliding outside...

I hope you have a good weekend Kavita!
