Verdant green
foreshadows the coming
of Spring
Despite a fresh blanket of snow
covering the mud puddles again.
A halo of flowers
bids haste
to sunshine’s warming balms
Happy Spring and Happy Sunday
to Monkey Man
and all his friends at the Sunday 160.
spring will be here soon enough...new snow...ugh, really? so glad ours is done...rain and wind all day today here...
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the last snowfall...and the first real signs of Spring. It's gotta to be somewhere close by now...
ReplyDeleteLoved your 160, Katherine!
Flowers on top of show... well, I've got the now anyway.
ReplyDeleteI always thought March was a dirty month - all that snow with mud splashed all over it.
@Brian: Yup, I even had to shovel today. Snowed a tonne last night! But it was a gorgeous day and a good excuse to get out and enjoy a little of the sunshine.
ReplyDelete@Talon: There are buds on the lilac tree! That's got to be a good sign. I don't have snowdrops in my yard, but I can almost feel the crocuses pushing their way up through the snow. Thanks for visiting Talon!
@Alice: The flowers were compliments of my eldest. My littlest couldn't take the snow glare, so escaped back indoors, but my eldest made a snow angel and decorated it with flowers that I had just discarded from the house. Brightened up the yard with their pretty sunshiney colours. Now just to hope for some real ones in the yard soon!
Can' wait for spring to start bursting forth. A bit of color and some warmth would serve us well. Thanks for playing along with the Sunday 160.
ReplyDelete@Monkey Man:Oh, I hear you MM! At -10C here today, I am pretty sure any stirrings of spring are gone again. The sunshine remains though, so hopefully that will heat the soul anyway. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY SPRING to YOU, Katherine!
ReplyDeleteLovely poem. And beautiful photos!
Have a wonderful week, my friend!

I can hardly wait, we had Spring for a whole week here and the it let Winter come back. Love your words!
ReplyDelete@Ron: Happy Spring to you too Ron! I hope that you get a ray or two of sunshine into your world this week. Hugs
ReplyDelete@Neva: Oh, what a tease Neva! That sucks that winter came roaring back. I think that Spring is going to win this war though. Hopefully sooner rather than later!
