Looking
up didn't seem so bad. One foot in front of the other until you reached the top. How hard could that be?
It wasn’t until I reached the top and looked down that there was a problem. All I had to do was let go, right?
So why did my hands shake so badly?

I would have kept going higher and higher regardless of the height, rather than look down from the top of the rock wall. Man, who would have known I was afraid of heights?! Ack! I did manage to make it to the pinnacle three times though. Not bad for a first timer, if I do say so myself. The laughter from the bottom was a little embarrassing though, as I tried to pry myself off the side of the wall without having a panic attack. Gotta watch that last step G-Man!
Congrats Kat...
ReplyDeleteYou climbing Ivy you!
You write it when the inspiration hits!
Loved your 55,
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
@G-Man: Thanks for being the most excellent host G!!!
Deleteugh yeah looking down is not a lot of fun...when i rappeled off the 300 footer i did not look down until i got down...
ReplyDelete@Brian: 300 Feet!! Holy crow dude, you are wicked brave! I would have closed my eyes and screamed all the way down! teehee
Delete=:-O
It's not the heights that scare me...it's the possible impact. ;-)
ReplyDelete@MomsJournal: I hear you MJ! Thanks for stopping by. :)
DeleteRock walls and I don't do so good together. It's always easier going up than coming down. Isn't that true about so many things?
ReplyDelete@Yvonne: Very true indeed Yvonne! I always appreciate you stopping by. :)
DeleteOMG...my hands got sweaty just READING this post because I am SO afraid of heights, Katherine!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know what you mean about being able to look up or out but not down, because I live on the 21st floor of a high-rise, and the second I look down I get a panic attack in my stomach. I can't even imagine what it would have been like to climb an open rock wall?!?!
"I did manage to make it to the pinnacle three times though. Not bad for a first timer, if I do say so myself."
WOW...that's AWESOME! You GO, girl! MUCH better than I would have done!
X
@Ron: I don't know how you manage to live on the 21st floor. I know your views are awesome, but looking over the edge would make my knees weak dude! I would never get anywhere near the railing at your place!
DeleteYeah, going up is the easy part!
ReplyDelete@Mama Zen: You know I don't think I really realized that I would have to repel back down again, until I was at the top. It certainly brought up some anxiety for me (along the lines of trusting the universe & all that)
DeleteANd you did that three times? That's incredible.
ReplyDelete@Nara Malone: I suspect that a little competitive edge took over (I can beat the rock wall!), plus I was climbing with my niece & felt like I had to keep going with her. I was just glad when the time ran out though!
DeleteRock climbing rocks! Good for you!
ReplyDelete@Stranger: Well, it was an indoor rock wall, to be fair. And they have hand holds, but I believe I was on one of the harder ascents, as I went between my daughter (on the easy rise) & my niece (on a medium one). It was fun and good exercise to boot!
