becoming

quiet sleeps
the house this night
after
songs sung,
food flung,
and patience won
by this humble
Mama

I am
becoming.
no strife
fills me,
chills me,
overwhelms
Me.
not tonight.

Worlds spin
around my orb.
I feel,
but sit still
content
to let chaos
be someone else's
baggage.

Don't misunderstand.
I sorrow,
would beg and borrow
that tomorrow
would ease
the wounds
and woes
for all.

turmoil,
so  often
a  bedfellow,
has left the hearth,
left my heart,
left my hurt
and left me
wondering.

Wondering
how to live,
how to thrive,
how to believe
in myself
and life
when it is all
in mine own hands.

I go forth.
face the day
with clear eyes.
the past behind me,
the future
a glimmer
a piece of
a new day.

~

It is a New Year
and the first Wednesday
that I get to share
with the poets
and friends

  3. This is beautiful, Katherine. To be in the moment...while the world swirls around is to be, for that moment, utterly content.

I am surprised, but finding truth in this moment. It is quiet and sweet.

    Especially this part...

    "I go forth.
    face the day
    with clear eyes.
    the past behind me,
    the future
    a glimmer
    a piece of
    a new day."

  10. @Neva: I thought I said some nice smarmy kind of thing to say thanks, but it appears my fingers were to sleepy to hit enter last night. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by. You are always so kind.

@Reflections: They do indeed. The trick is to see the potential learning and growth in those bitter moments though...

  12. @Brian: I can only offer what I have Brian. I am only as strong as I can be; some days that means that the pickle jar never gets opened, but other days I pluck the moon out of the sky for a night light for my babies. I hope you find a sliver of you that brings peace to your heart dear man.

  13. @Kathew: I think it is awesome that you set big tasks for yourself for the YEAR! That is a major commitment and I applaud you for the thought and however far the effort takes you. Just the goal alone makes you a super-star Kathe.

  14. @Ron: I want to take you, squeeze you and plant a big fat kiss on both your cheeks! You just make me twinkle every time you stop by! Thanks Ron

  15. Chaos has many barbs. It's a good thing to be aware of its baggage. Loved this poem.

  17. @booguloo: It does indeed booguloo. I know the hearth of chaos well & am thrilled that it is on vacation from my sphere for a moon. :)
