Saturday's Email of the Week: Friends Forever

Saturday's Email of the Week

Day sped away
gym, glowing games & gabbing girls
friends ♥ forever
~

I have a very good friend of mine visiting today, so have been away from the computer. Wonderful, but I noticed that I didn't have anything prepared for you. Ack! As I have spent many an hour laughing, giggling and chatting the night and day away, this little joke is all that I have come up with on last notice. You are lucky that I love you all and am willing to share this little Christmas present that I got.

Merry Christmas ladies!

(Pst. Shall I send him your way when I am done with him Ron?)

Santa sent me an email stating he's tired of delivering toys.  That he's too old to be flying all night across the globe and that starting this Christmas, he's sending his son, Santa Jr. . . .
HO HO HO . . . .
Merry Christmas my dear friends, behave so that Santa Jr. goes down your . . .chimney  :)

A Dark Night

Alms For A New Day

It's getting so that
I don't recognize the girl
in my mirror

Telephone rings
fingers fly filling pages
notes for next story

children mourn days
before hum-filled house reigned with
laptop burning vision

a paycheque- my dues
recognition won in alms
A New Day Begins

Night

night creeps in
erases days repast
the moon glows

full light above my head
wiping stars clear
from memory

eyes close to the light
I can take no more of today

Feathered Friend

Little bird tapping
on my wet window pane
come in from the rain

ah, you knock again
my camera cannot capture
your thoughts today

Dear gold finch friend

What's Going on Wednesday

I feel like I have been away forever. I went to New York last weekend and was completely disconnected from the world wide web the whole time I was gone. I left Thursday, returned late Sunday and didn't get the shakes once (unlike the university students at the University of Maryland that went through varying stages of withdrawal symptoms during a 24 hr social media-free experiment). Ha, in your face social media!

and yes, I have been right back at it ever since.
sigh...

Not here though. And I miss you! I miss you all out there in bloggy-land! I have checked in on some of you, but my own voice has been silent. I played catchup with work, and wrote articles about the aftermath of a thunderstorm cleanup, the heat wave rolling across North America and the best bathing suits to wear to the beach to beat the heat, and even delved into the joys and mysteries of coconut milk! Fascinating stuff that you should all check out and comment on ;)

But I feel like I owe myself a stint of writing too. Maybe that is because I also met up with my newly formed writing group tonight. Perhaps you agree though?

I did post a few haiku on twitter, that I will share with you again here if you missed them.

Butterfly flits by
Birds chirp, chirp, chirp hello
A break in the rain

Sunshine dreams
Offered up on ruffled leaf
My rain drop's gift

and how about a new one,

cloudless blue skies
looking cool and inviting
bake everything

Plus, I did a little gardening - trim a little here, pull weeds out of the lawn there, and snap a few pictures of the newest things that are blooming;

My favourite discovery today though, was this absolutely stunning iris! It is so ruffly and delicate. Makes me just sigh with the beauty of it...

And you? What have you been up to? Written any good poetry, prose, songs? Taken any shocking, stunning, stimulating pictures? Painted, sketched, designed any good artwork?  Tell me what's going on!

Love and Some Verses

~ while Iron and Wine say it best, I will add some of my own visions of love today ~

husband
You let me snuggle
icy toes resting on calves
and I sleep smiling

doves
sweet warmth underfoot
promises of tomorrow
future round and cool
ruffled feathers envelop
until doting mate takes o'er
children
laughing eyes light on
my stooped visage uncurling-
run screeching to arms
held straight with a back born fresh
now with love's sweet compromise

of life and love

listen to the wind
hear it cry of life and love
I nod in answer

At 5PM est, the One Stop Poetry doors will open on another One Shot Wednesday.
Will you be there?

Violet Slumber

pretty purple strewn
amongst fresh green grasses
just starting to grow

soft carpets alive
singing with growth, rebirth and
promises of Spring

I run across the
lawn breathing sunshine dreams
into tomorrow

violet slumbers
refresh frozen hope and pray
thunders pass over

May rains replenish
and forgive sunshine stolen
by daffodil vase

 Aye, tomorrow will soak
the last of April's promises
for May's bounty

for One Shot Wednesday

gentle thrum of computer"s hum
I ease into grace

Together

Tall and strident
you lean into me as strength
I support our days
~

Mother and child
entwined from our shared roots bound
softly caressed love

Bloom in Heart

I am in a land
down under, past watchful eyes
to a friend's warm heart

We shall dance and sing
of heart's pain, love and passions
with pure love's embrace

so fare thee well
until I return too soon
to word's daily grind

The Interpretation of a Poem

calico cat naps
snuggled under purrs of love
stretching the moment

Last night I read poetry to my girlies before I went out. I read selected poems from the chapbook that I created for my book club. I read some of my poems, and some from many other poets, known and not-so-much. At four and six, they don't care if the poets are wildly famous or not. They just like the sound of words strung together.

In fact, the ladies of my book club didn't really care if the poets within the pages of the chapbook were known or not either. I know that I dragged some of them to the table of poetry, but for their part they were game to play along with my suggestions. Did I get any converts to a passion for poetry? Yes? No? Probably not so much, but they all claimed to like the experience. I read a few poems and they all exclaimed that the poems sounded so much better for the reading of them. I myself often read aloud words as I write them down, as I too like to hear how something sounds. If it doesn't sound right or flow right, then words are just scribbles on a page.

Ah, but true poetry is all in the readers interpretation. This I found fascinating over the evening. I was surprised by people's reactions to poems, that I had never thought of. Poems that I had grooved on, were passed over, while other poems were held in high esteem. Interpretation and personal bias is key. No one is right or wrong in their opinions, and I hope that I allowed everyone to express themselves, without fearing to hurt my feelings. No matter, the experience was a good one and an experiment I might try again.

Of the poem at the top, I wrote it for my daughter. T kept encouraging me to read another poem and another, until it was almost time for me to go. She likes to hear the poetry I create, and I in my turn love to share my meager creativity with her. She suggested that I should write a poem about a cat, so I used our dear Miss Kitty as inspiration this evening. She seems always to be a sleepy ball of fur, and now I should take my cue from her.

Good night my friends and thank you to those of you who allowed me to share your few precious words with me. I am indebted to your kindness and offer you payment in loving kindness sent to you. Peace.
