Remember Them

Children's voices
raised in song.
No words uttered
to interrupt the psalm.

Poppies placed
row upon row.
Honour, respect;
all remembered by those.

The men and women
who gave their lives,
a fight for freedom
with battle cries.

My children's voices
I proudly hear,
today remember
and hold your memories dear.

We thank you all
who have served in courage
without sacrifices bold
our world discouraged.

Today
our children
solemn sing
to you a gift
their offering.

Thank you
We Remember

Lest We Forget

Their uniforms crisp
Roles serious and dedicated
Their missive- our Freedom

Marching, they came towards us
Strict row upon row to Serve
Silent we stood waiting

   Ready for them

On this day to honour
All the sacrifices made
And all those whom have never come back

Tears glistened in eyes
Hands trembled on canes
The bugle sounded our cries

   The Last Post...

We always rise again
Hands to heart
Eyes to sky

We stand on guard
Two minutes offered
Silent in humble thought

   Our gift of Remembrance

To men and women
Brave, noble and bold
Will our thanks ever be enough?

Poppies pinned to chests
Salutes raised to the dead
We will Never forget

Lest We Forget

They fought for our freedom
They gave us their lives
Their families fall weeping
I’ve a tear in my eye

I stand by the cenotaph
Brace cold in the wind
Think of the trenches
Where they hunkered in

The least I can offer
Is this little pin
To say thanks for fighting
Pray never again

~~~
Lest we forget...
This is my tribute to all the brave men and women who put their lives on the line in the name of our freedom.
I offer it up for G-Man's Flash Friday as well.
Thank you
Remembrance Day - Lest We Forget
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
by John McCrae 1915
No Words of my Own
Just my poppy offered up
for those gone before
for my freedoms
...
