There I was, minding my own business, tending to my delightful two children. We were waiting for our raved-over gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. The market was busy around us with people coming and going. We had been handed chocolates by one vendor, given lollipops by an acquaintance that I recognized, but struggled to place, and asked to help ourselves from a candy bowl at another vendor. The kids were getting pretty hopped up on sugar levels, but I vainly hoped that some semi-nutritious food would be ingested by them. What can I say? I am an optimist. A little slow sometimes, but I like to dream.
Struggling to control a sugary situation that was rapidly threatening to degenerate I looked around desperate for perhaps a topic for an eye-spy game. That is when I saw this; something BLUE.
I had noticed several people come in a side door while we were waiting. Most people wandered straight to the nearby deli counter and pondered over pepperettes or pastrami. A young woman walked in and headed in the same direction pushing a carriage. Not a big deal to one familiar with pushing along similar four-wheeled contraptions. This one caught my eye though. For one it was fabulously bright (no second-hand purchases for this spoiled baby here!), and definitely Blue. A movement in the carriage made me stare, forgetting that my own darling princesses were licking the table clean of its sugary drips. The occupant of the stroller was hairy. Really hairy! So hairy that I brought my purse to my lap and quickly dug for my camera in the bowels of its contents.
"Quick, quick," my mind screamed, as the stroller was pushed further away. I tried to casually point the object of my obsession out to my own perfect little angels.
"Look at the stroller," I said.
The girls strained to turn in their seats.
"Do you see what is in it?" I asked.
They shook their head at first, then clapped their sticky little hands in delight. You probably cannot tell what is in the stroller from my last ditch effort at snapping a clandestine photo, but I will give you a hint;
FOR PETS ONLY!
A blue ride for man's best friend or in this case, Mama's little baby!
Oh, and by the by, I hooked this little tale up to Theme Thursday to try something different. Not sure if it works, but worth a whirl. Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends!
