tissue paper hands

If I squeeze too tight
tissue paper hands will tear
my dying vigil
your forehead's stress lines
passed to survivors

In memory of my grandmother, Margaret McLeod

scars

soft petals tinged by
past breezes, freezes, memories
forever noted
yet beauty amidst the scars
show strength in our tomorrows

Nail in the Wall

Unpacking pictures
old photos of days gone by
memories long spent
moments no longer relived
not worth the nail in the wall

Door Knockers & Palm Crossers

local politics
edge of your seat evening
election results
in four years to cut mustard
or shatter beliefs once more

Bye, bye incumbents
hello to new councillors
fresh blood, young faces
may you be the infusion
that London needs to shine bright

the key

the key to my heart
returned too soon with remorse
a cold reminder
some things aren't as we dream them
metallic hope thrown away

late winter

Sunshine fills my eyes
Sorely needed on this day
Stubborn winter sits
Blankets everything cold
Refuses the way to spring

morning's arms

hours steal from the day
winds howl round a silent form
closed eyes release me
yesterday's qualms now gone
I waken in morning's arms

cloud cover

daylight hours, in-
spiration, hope & energy
swing madly to dusk,
as the world spins away and
clouds cover the rest of me

In Tandem #5 - Golden Heart

Soft caress
a kiss of wind drifts
gently 'cross mountain pass
Down the valley
to the forest floor

Lo, the hot breeze
drives in without forgiveness.
Fresh leaves, but a memory
swept away by
Autumn promises

Now parched images
all that is left of you
as sun sets steady
behind the bulk
of your memory

I draw your lines
hold your visions strong in mind,
yet I am too small
to ever spy the
golden heart that was you

...

M'lady Jinksy
holds a weekly prompt
by the name of In Tandem.
Here,
I showcase one of her beautiful paintings
and make attempt to capture her art
in words.
If you are interested,
every week she posts 2 pictures
on Wednesday
and leaves a link open for the week
for inspiration to flow
amongst others.
Enjoy!

A Trip to the Circus

elephants and clowns
poodle dogs through hoops with hops
high flying ring swings
skipping ropes, balancing poles
The circus was in town tonight!

Yippee!
What the heck
shall I link in my little tanka to OSW?
Why not!

An Offering

You are not alone
- not walking with silent steps.
I hear and catch tears
falling behind those scarred hands,
then offer them to the rain
~

I am also going to link in a very late entry
to One Shot Wednesday

Love and Some Verses

~ while Iron and Wine say it best, I will add some of my own visions of love today ~

husband
You let me snuggle
icy toes resting on calves
and I sleep smiling

doves
sweet warmth underfoot
promises of tomorrow
future round and cool
ruffled feathers envelop
until doting mate takes o'er
children
laughing eyes light on
my stooped visage uncurling-
run screeching to arms
held straight with a back born fresh
now with love's sweet compromise

My Crabby Apple

Crab Apple is beginning to bloom

crabby appled kid
wreaked havoc on moods again
tears dispel thin peace
forgiveness placed at table
eaten cold, but served with love

Winter Release

icy heart forgotten
by winter's refusal to
relent to spring
Melt those damn snowflakes already!
I'm craving the warmth within

I'm going to stomp my foot
and hold my breath
until snow melts
and gives way
to just a
little bit
of
SPRING!

but I am going to link in to OSW in the meantime

golden haired angel
with gentle nature and charms
riding love's heart waves
fed by birth's memories and
the joyful sound of laughter
