Prose in my Heart

sunshine heart
on a cold grey day
new life starts up
in promising ways

a hug passed here
joyful eyes offered there
t'would seem I live
by my cheeks so fair

these words I dig
and hand out to you
have found wings so light
and are now coming true

a writer, i dreamed
A Writer, I am
til my hours fill up
now true I stand

the words, they fill me
the words, feed too
my soul blossoms slowly
and sun's rays pour through

I will keep on working
hold the prose in my heart
pray life fills completely
with this promising start...

One Shot Wednesday

Smoothing the Rhythm Lines

tching
the sound of the beat
so long without heat
in these hands
kaboom

kathunk
rhythm fantastic
slamming, we blast it
enter another plain
baadung

ting
old familiar heart stops
dripping in memory drops
serenity stains
gadong

Ttsssss
picking up life lines
serving 'em with drum's fine
tingling fingers demand
pahdum

kah-tshh
slowly we  bring it down
in clave sticks we do drown
yesterday's hurt refrain
-and  together withstand
harhum...

It's Wednesday. I may be late, but I am going to link into One Shot Wednesday. Join me if you've got some words to share...

Forever Young

How did I get here?
this day, today
filled with running,
tasks, responsibilities
that I never dreamed, imagined
or ever really wanted.

these hands cannot
will not
dare not
(& I don't really want them to)
but they run...

Time past makes me want to cry though.

forever young
laughing curled into
a dark cave
ready to screw the world
and ourselves in the process

but we had each other
and that was more
than I had
in years before,
and some since

So, do I really want to live forever?
forever young?
testing, trying, proving, lying...
My answer,
no

but this song always takes me back to when I did...

An Offering

You are not alone
- not walking with silent steps.
I hear and catch tears
falling behind those scarred hands,
then offer them to the rain
~

I am also going to link in a very late entry
to One Shot Wednesday

Violet Slumber

pretty purple strewn
amongst fresh green grasses
just starting to grow

soft carpets alive
singing with growth, rebirth and
promises of Spring

I run across the
lawn breathing sunshine dreams
into tomorrow

violet slumbers
refresh frozen hope and pray
thunders pass over

May rains replenish
and forgive sunshine stolen
by daffodil vase

 Aye, tomorrow will soak
the last of April's promises
for May's bounty

Together

Tall and strident
you lean into me as strength
I support our days

entwined from our shared roots bound
softly caressed love

Sweet Promises

It is late, but night-time holds the only hours left.
These days are suddenly filled to overflowing.
My hours, requested hither & yon,
fly from me. I offer willingly
knowing that the bills
will now get paid
and I might get
that fresh
haircut
yet.

A Late Winter Storm

A scant
four days ago
you gently peeked
through the snow.

As neighbours watched
nearby,
you stretched up
towards the sky.

Without heed to crystals cold
a'strew amongst your path
you warmed thy promised leaves
for sun's rays you did grasp.

but woe to you today
as fresh chill has touched the air
and looking out yon window
snow has returned without a care

Blast for winter's grip
be gone from morrow's day!
we've enough of flurries trip
right kindly I say "Go Away!"

  ***

Looking out my window, I see that the snow the weather forecast warned of has arrived. 10-15cm! What!!! Poor tulips and daffodils won't know what to do with themselves.

Damn winter! Be gone already!!

ting-sha bliss

A special moment of release
a favourite one
of my month
when
everything
dis ahhh peers,
but the music

tones fill me up
beat in my heart
(when I cannot)
tender emotions
raise hairs, just as they
let unseen
energies slip away
like water scrubbing
the earth of my soul

energy unblocked
I am left limp
dazed in the beauty
of  this sound,
this moment

It happens every time
and yet I marvel
that there are hard niches
that can still release their hold
with our passion's beat
passion's
beat, beat, beat
pounding
all those pains,
strains with refrains

I am left
clean
pure
white with whimsy's
touch

this smile born
of God's release;
my penance
beaten on a drum
and given wings on
the tones of
that ting-
sha
bliss

I have been gone and super-busy the last week, but
found inspiration for a little free-verse
for my friends at One Shot Wednesday
via my monthly drum circle

Winter Release

icy heart forgotten
by winter's refusal to
relent to spring
Melt those damn snowflakes already!
I'm craving the warmth within

I'm going to stomp my foot
and hold my breath
until snow melts
and gives way
to just a
little bit
of
SPRING!

but I am going to link in to OSW in the meantime

The Visitor

Stumbling in
with a fearful grin.
Will they show smiles
or toss me out to snow piles?

Why soever do I doubt
my fain erstwhile clout
for hugs did abound
& remembrances astound

dear friends counted true
time no match for you
inquiries honest thought
and sincerity truly bought

This passage marches on
and workmates, some gone,
but delightful none the same
despite leaving the repair game.

For they were mates by
punch-clocks cry.
Yet friends of mine
those forever I find.

$$$

Hey-
I can just barely squeak this under the wire
I am going to link this up to One Shot Wednesday
and perhaps do a little more visiting tomorrow.

golden haired angel
with gentle nature and charms
riding love's heart waves
fed by birth's memories and
the joyful sound of laughter

survive

Wednesday.
Esoteric music plays in my ear.
A child has a hard time settling.
(Remember that in the morning when she does not want to rise)
Breathe. Be.
Sigh...

fingers let the trembling of the drum fade out of them
a hurting soul soaked in our healing rhythms.
well, more than one.
but one with pain writ in eyes, skin
and tremor that only those that know
can see.

Beats continue to heal me, but
most days I am strong enough to give back.
tonight's hurts were for the physical pain of new visitor
the emotional strain of a caregiver,
and another,
and another...

My offerings are of love
compassion that flows from pores
and sparkles with tender remembrances.
I taste their strain
and wish to blow those days
away on wings of tomorrow's sunrise

Away
on wings of a journey spent
A path trod rough and broken
with tertiary gardens askance
sown with bitter tears
of love's tragedy.

A new day,
new sunrise
sprinkled with dust
from fairy's hopeful wand
and filled life of dry gardens
with new, unbeknownst, yet mystical flowers

Spring blooms
on seeds of belief
and life's delight
as my dark night,
dim determinations and
stubborn blossoms survive

*I linked in to the very tale end of One Show Wednesday
& think I just might throw in a link to Imperfect Prose

A Handful of Haikus

Grief
tears do not shatter
the reality awake
only smooth the edge

Soul Jam
we offer sound
for ourselves and other souls
unaware of gifts

Deliverance
my hands have delivered
a small gift of sound
with tears

It is Wednesday.

becoming

quiet sleeps
the house this night
after
songs sung,
food flung,
and patience won
by this humble
Mama

I am
becoming.
no strife
fills me,
chills me,
overwhelms
Me.
not tonight.

Worlds spin
around my orb.
I feel,
but sit still
content
to let chaos
be someone else's
baggage.

Don't misunderstand.
I sorrow,
would beg and borrow
that tomorrow
would ease
the wounds
and woes
for all.

turmoil,
so  often
a  bedfellow,
has left the hearth,
left my heart,
left my hurt
and left me
wondering.

Wondering
how to live,
how to thrive,
how to believe
in myself
and life
when it is all
in mine own hands.

I go forth.
face the day
with clear eyes.
the past behind me,
the future
a glimmer
a piece of
a new day.

~

It is a New Year
and the first Wednesday
that I get to share
with the poets
and friends
