Sonic Drum Healing

soft silk
that  slides
 in my ear
via singing
bowls and shruti box

a hiss
so fine it lingers
behind my eyes
as I float
on
tonal
dreamy notes
hrrumm
...

ting
it releases
tensions held
dripping down the didgeridoo
replete with the resonance
of a rain stick
in a room
full
of recovering
reasons
to live life to the full.

a soft gong
returns us to today
a better place to pray
on knees
no longer able to
bend
for some
but  willing
to beat out
their dreams on a drum

If you are interested and willing, check out the ever-growing community at One Stop Poetry, where they host a weekly OneShot poetry writing circle. There is an amazing assortment of artists that are willing to share their poetic wares. Happy Wednesday!

  1. you make sweet music k...like me some digi-thingy...and drums...rather fond of the cheek harp and banjo as well...but nothing beats the cow bell...

  2. we had cow bells as well! I played something akin to it tonight, but it had two differently toned bells. Maybe we could start us up a band there Mr B!

  7. Perhaps I should have also explained that this particular drum circle is run via a cancer support centre that I am a member of. They hold a drum circle once a month and I try not to miss it. The last stanza might make more sense then, as not all of the participants are always physically well. For me, the drums and our sonic portion of the night help me to connect with me and release whatever ills linger inside. It truly is a healing night.

    * Thank you all for popping by. Feel the rhythm Talon!

    * I have picked up the didgeridoo Kathew, but was surprised by how difficult it was. Something to practice on

    * It is a place of healing Shashi. We release what we can

    * Thanks C. I kind of felt like the stanzas almost looked like some of our instruments. :)

  8. Sounds like you were pulled into the beat.
    Nice job.

    For dreams that tie
    Into every corner
    Of this anticipated life
    Whispering soft words
    In ears heard behind eyes
Yet, can gong or rain stick
    Waken one from that dream
For which the drum now sound

  9. Effective music/instrument/word interplay. Keep 'em short and sharp, and you'll have this reader for life, or at least as long as this group runs.

  10. * Hi desk49. Thanks for dropping in. I like to drift on the ethereal notes for as long as possible before being woken back up to life

    * Thank you so much Steve. :) I will see what I can do...
