Wiping the dust off the canner

Wiping the dust off the canner
~

Well, it's that time again. Somehow my day seems to be slipping by without notice, but I am on it. Yup, today is day 1 of pickle making. I bought a whack of pickling cukes yesterday. At 1:30 I am finally ready to start, barring any distractions. Dill pickles should be setting up in shiny jars by the end of the day, with sweet pickles to be made shortly after (or tomorrow?). So no time for wasting; a pickling I go! Happy Six Word Saturday! Hope your day is a success.

  1. is a 'whack' a technical term?

    i like pickles,
    particularly on sandwiches
    with peanut butter
    which may be an odd
    blend of textures
    and flavors
    but reminds me
    of the one who
    first fed them
    to me.

(and i you dont like it
    well i will just whack
    you like a group of
    pickling cucumbers...lol)

having a bit of fun with you. have a great day. i do like PBP sandwiches though...

  4. Oh yum! One of these days, I will put my mind to preserving. Once again though - not this year. I know the day will come when I'll look around and wonder what to do with my time, once the boys are grown...but for now, I'm just too darn tired! :)

(And PBP sandwiches, Brian? Ewwww! Haha!)

  6. *Yes Brian, in my world "whack" is a very technical term! Haha. And I suppose that everyone is entitled to their own likes and dislikes (bleh!!! barf!!!)

*First batch of dills are looking rather purty I got to say Nora. Yum!

*My eldest got in on the act AiMeE! She was just tickled to help out (got her to wash the cukes first) and kept asking what else she could do.

*Well Me, in 6-7 weeks time you just might have to meander up here and get a taste of my crunchy granola stylings. I have some super garlicky and some milder, so choice will be out there (plus whatever else I have stuffed into a jar between now and then!)

*Hmm. Ron, I think that I might need a lesson on that. I would gladly hand over a whole handful of green, garlicky goodness to you, but I think I would be smearing the laptop's screen pretty badly. I will send you garlic kisses in the Fall my friend. Mwah!!
    xxx
